Challange

In 2018, at the start of their cooperation with The Owl, Antwerp volleyball faced an enormous challenge. The men’s team of Topvolley Antwerp had done very well in the highest league for several years, won one cup and even played in European competitions, but financially speaking it was not a direct hit. In 2016, it was over and out for the men’s club. The Topvolley women’s team, however, continued their path and continued to grow. In 2018, ‘Antwerp4Volley’ was launched, a collaboration between four clubs: Antwerp Ladies VT, Fixit Kalmthout, Volmar Ekeren and OXACO BVC. The Owl is joining this ambitious project as a communication partner.

Approach

The Owl drew up an extensive communication plan to make the new project known to the wider public and all of the stakeholders. The City of Antwerp and a number of sponsors can also benefit from a highly performing volleyball project in the largest city of Flanders.

Social media and online communication are at the heart of the communication approach. The Owl drew up a content plan and, via a number of photo and video shoots, ensured that the Antwerp Ladies received the attention they deserve.

Result

The Owl took care of the entire communications of the young club and ensured that fans, sponsors and the press were kept up to date on developments within the club.

In the chaotic world of sport, flexibility is a must. The Owl carried out the established content plan and, where necessary, made quick adjustments so that the communication to the outside world was faster and more professional.
